Tom’s Spotify Picks–February 2022

This playlist is a collection of songs best suited for riding around Tucson on a Tuesday night. Tuesday Night Bike Ride is a long-standing meet-up of around 100+ riders from all walks of life who begin an evening ride from Old Main every Tuesday night. A big part of the ride is playing music as loud as you can, so I put together some songs that are fun to ride to. If you happen to be downtown on Tuesday night and see a group of people on bikes taking over the streets, give them a “Happy Tuesday” shout!

Vinta – Crumb
I love the jazzy feel of the drums on this song. It’s easy to listen to and provides a nice groove for riding your bike to.

Since You Asked Kindly – BADBADNOTGOOD
Keeping the jazz drumming going into the second song, this track has some of the best hi-hat patterns and ghost notes I have ever heard, you can’t help but nod your head.

White Sky – Vampire Weekend
This song always puts me in a good mood. It feels lighthearted and optimistic. Perfect for the beginning of the week.

This Must Be The Place – Talking Heads
Makes you feel good inside!

Killer – XIXA
This is from a local band that plays cumbia style rock. The rhythm to this song is incredible.

I’m Sleepin’ In – King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
Very chill, easy-to-listen-to song to bring the pace of a ride down a bit. They are also coming to Tucson in April!

Golden Brown – The Stranglers
I like how mellow and relaxing this song is. It’s also used in an iconic scene in the movie Snatch If you know, you know.

Endors Toi – Tame Impala
Listening to this song makes you feel like you’re in some sort of dream. Perfect for floating around town on a bike.

Temptation (7” Version) – New Order
Another feel good banger!

Brother Sport – Animal Collective
I play this song on every ride I go on. It’s weird and that’s all there is to it but everytime you listen to Animal Collective you pick up on something different. Watch the music video to get the full experience.
